How to "FREAK" (when dancing)

A few weeks ago, I was on duty down in the SoHo office.  There were several people down in the office hanging out and the subject of clubbing came up.  Dustin interjected at one point and said he had been clubbing over interterm in Paris.  As the conversation continued Dustin was asked if he had "freaked" before-- proudly said he had.  This shocked all in the room..."Really Dustin?! --tell us how?"  With confidence he proudly stated that all you have to do is just "flail around."  Immediately the room burst into laughter.  Instantly Dustin questioned himself as I began to follow his instructs and flail around.  Dustin's voice emerged in the laughter, "No, No, No--I meant you just pretend to rub soap all over yourself."  Once again laughter erupted.  

The moral of the story is...you can take the Dustin out of homeschool, but you can't take the homeschool out of Dustin.

Jello ... it's ALIVE

Dustin is affraid of JELLO!



Today Dustin and I had lunch. Towards the end of lunch Dustin left the table and returned with blue jello. He inquired to see if I'd ever had Jello made with sparkling water. As he asked me, he scooped up a spoonful of Jello and it didn't quite make it to his mouth. It fell before him. Frightened by the giggling Jello, he imediately he jumped back.



The night before when we were having dinner, Josh had Jello. When a piece fell off of his spoon Dustin jumped back in fear. When Josh preceeded to taunt him, Dustin shreked in fear. The thought of coming in contact with Jello frightened him.



Therefore the moral of the story is...Dustin is affraid of Jello

On Sunday, March 24 the specimen Dustin volunteered to pick up Switchfoot from LAX airport.  Despite the fact that he has no car and no money for gas.  He left Biola with anticipation.  He was hoping he would have a better experience than he had last time he picked up a band for a Biola concert.  He brought a friend along to join him to meet the band--yet when he arrived at the airport he learned that there had been a miscommunication.  The band had another ride and so to Dustin's let down he just picked up the band's manager (although I don't have all of the facts, I believe that the manager looked at Dustin awkwardly and so chose to ride with him).  When Dustin returned to Biola he was slightly dazed and confused, not sure what had just happened.

When I asked Rich, Dustin's roommate, he shared his insight, "When I saw Dustin at school I realized he had just met the band Switchfoot, I asked how it was and he didn't respond."  

Little did Rich know, Dustin hadn't met the band Switchfoot, but Switchfoot the manager.   Later on that evening Dustin had another opportunity to meet the band, this time for real.  Dustin entered the green room where the band was awaiting the start of the evenings show.  Although this was his big opportunity to redeem himself, he sheepishly walked in and delivered his goods and left.  He claims that he didn't want to be an annoying fan...yet in reality he didn't want them to know he was HOMESCHOOLED!

The moral of the story is....don't be homeschooled and then try to be a hip-hopper who wants to be a background dancer for Switchfoot
